Nepali ultra-trail runner from a remote mountain village in Jumla, Karnali, Sunmaya Budha escaped an arranged teenage marriage to pursue running and became one of the world's leading female ultra-trail athletes. In 2025 she captured the Ultra-Trail Cape Town World Trail Majors title and won the Hong Kong 100, before setting a women's course record at the 2026 Lavaredo Ultra Trail 120K.
