American professional ultramarathon runner born in Kenya to missionary parents and raised in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Miller's unconventional training journey includes working on the Queen Mary 2 cruise ship where he trained on treadmills and stairwells, living as caretaker at Barr Camp on Pikes Peak for five years, and now residing in a converted school bus. After a three-year recovery from Haglund's syndrome, he returned to elite competition in 2023, finishing second at UTMB and becoming one of the few American men to podium at the prestigious 100-mile race.

A Lap For Bill

After being forced to withdraw at the last moment in 2024 due to a ruptured appendix, Zach Miller returns to Hardrock in 2025 to take on the iconic loop through the San Juan Mountains, not just as a competitive challenge, but as a deeply personal journey in honor of his friend Bill Dooper, carrying his memory throughout the race, navigating highs and lows, physical struggles, and quiet determination, and ultimately reaching Silverton to kiss the rock, completing what became a symbolic lap for Bill, driven as much by friendship and meaning as by the race itself.
